To The Colors
When in camp, this was the call sounded to bring the companies to the color line and to form battalions for dress parade and inspections.
When on the march, the call was the signal to prepare for action.
It was also used in ceremonies honoring the national colors and flag raising.
On the field, the call has been used to rally disorganized and scattered soldiers back to a strategic location to reform into a batallion. A Federal bugler at the Battle of Chicamauga won the Medal Of Honor for doing this.
